Nissan EV Quick Charger to Officially Launch, this November

That's right, Nissan revealed its new quick charger for EVs, just last week. Coinciding with the unveiling of the new technology, the Japanese automaker divulged plans to bring it to market, starting this November.
Initially, Nissan quick chargers will be available only through Nissan parts suppliers throughout Japan. The main prerogative is to help promote the ongoing development of the EV quick-charging infrastructure within the country. In total, Nissan aims to sell 5,000 units of the new quick charger in less than five years.
How does the new Nissan quick charger compare to the model currently on sale in Japan, starting at roughly 1.47-million yen (~$19,123)? For starters it's half the size, easier to install and will start well below the suggested retail price of the Nissan EV charger currently available.
Perhaps the four most notable benefits of the new Nissan EV quick charger are its weather resistance (can be safely used even in rainy weather and is specially designed to meet three distinct specifications: base, standard and cold weather), dedicated safety features (i.e., monitoring against a potential short circuit), and universal compatibility (it's not only compatible with the LEAF but EV's manufactured by other companies).
While the Nissan EV quick charger is expected to first hit Japan, it is expected to eventually make its way to the U.S., as well. "Preparations are also underway for future sales of the new quick charger in the U.S. and European markets," shares Nissan, in a recent press release.
